ADRIENNE McPHAUL

I am originally from Fairhope, Alabama and have worked as a librarian at the University of Southern Mississippi for the last three years.

After my high school art classes, I took classes at the Eastern Shore Art Academy on a scholarship awarded by the Eastern Shore Art Association.  While there, I was able to take classes in drawing, figure drawing, figure sculpture, portrait sculpture, acrylics and watercolors.

After taking a drawing class at the University of South Alabama, I was pulled away by poetry and ended up with a degree in Creative Writing and a minor in Gender Studies.  During this time, I started dabbling in jewelry making and beadwork.

After moving to Hattiesburg, I was lucky enough to hear about Jinks Studio and took a great pottery class from Jeanna.  I also joined the Sunset Quilters and, while learning basic techniques and sewing, I have become very interested in the textile arts.  I also have a lot of fun with my Nikon D50 and digital design projects.

I'm very rusty and far from an expert in any medium but I'm excited about the opportunities that SMAA will offer me!
