JANICE LORE

To create is to believe in yourself, your ability and your vision.

I came into this beautiful world on July 20, 1949, in Terre Haute, Indiana.

I spent my childhood in Tucson, Arizona and Madison, Indiana. I attended Catholic schools and graduated from Shawe Memorial High School in 1968. I went to Versailles Vocational School in 1969 and received a license in Cosmetology. Over the years of raising children, moving around and working off and on, I worked on my art as often as I could, but it never seemed like I had enough time. I was also associated with the military over most of those years because my husband was in the Navy for 15 years.

All my life I have sketched and painted a little but it was not until I went to college in 1995 at 45 years of age that I discovered I had hidden talents I did not even know I had. I took many art classes in Painting, Pottery, Sculpture and Drawing. I am not able to work anymore for health reasons, but, my ART is my salvation. I love expressing myself in my art.

My husband, John, and I have been married for twenty-five years. Over those years we raised my three children, Gina, John T., and Julie. We also have four granddaughters, Hannah, Sabrie, Kayla, and Claire. In 2003, we moved to Florida for my husband’s work and I took this time to get my health and my art in order. In 2005, we moved back to Hattiesburg, hoping to help us both.

I am now dealing with everything in a more positive way by keeping myself as healthy as possible. I stay busy painting, drawing, making jewelry, working with wood, metal and stone, creating sculpture and everything else that I can to use my talent. In my spare time, I love to sew, crochet, cook, and I am also teaching myself how to knit. I feel that God is testing me and my abilities, and I plan on showing Him how well I can deal with anything he gives me.

I joined the Art Association so that I can meet other artists and meet all the wonderful people out there who I hope will enjoy my work.

I am striving to go back to college and finish my Art Degree; hopefully, it will happen soon.
