Marty Broadus is a local artist and SMAA member. Her work consists mainly of watercolors, although she enjoys all drawing media (graphite, pen and ink, colored pencil) and using hand-building techniques in ceramics. Her choice of subject matter is varied as well.
She is a graduate of USM in Elementary and Special Education and has a Mater's of Art Education from William Carey College on the Coast. She has taught school for 27 years in Louisiana and Mississippi and now teaches Art and Drama at Oak Grove Middle School. She and her late husband, Ken, married for 35 years, have two daughters, Barbi and Lola, both talented artists themselves.
Professional associations, in addition to the South Mississippi Art Association, include the MS Art Education Association, the National Art Education Association, the National Museum for Women in the Arts and the MS Arts Alliance for Education.
