DOWNTOWN HATTIESBURG ART WALKS

Art Walks are held several times each year.  SMAA Artists exhibit and some demonstrate  their talents.  Restaurants and galleries in the downtown Hattiesburg area come alive with the excitement of painters, sculptors, musicians, and dramatic dancers joining in the fun.

Art Walks are held in the Downtown Area from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the scheduled day. These events are designed to showcase the Historic Downtown District — Hub City Historic District — as a venue for performing and visual arts in a pedestrian-friendly environment where visitors — family groups, youth, students of all ages and individuals — feel comfortable strolling around the various shops, galleries, museums, and restaurants.

Activities typically include shows and exhibits of art in downtown shops and galleries as well as in restaurants. Demonstrations of arts are often featured. The performing arts are part of Art Walks with performing groups on the streets and inside the various venues. Art activities for children and youth are included.
