SMAA's mission is:

 

• To seek out and foster the artistic talents of South Mississippi
• To sponsor exhibitions to promote public interest and appreciation of the arts
• To find a permanent home to collect and preserve the finest examples of work so as to elevate and educate the public's taste in and promote the enjoyment of the fine arts, and
• To seek out patrons' assistance in carrying out the foregoing purposes.
